FAQ’s for Naks: BX series

Problem:

My BX-1 has an issue that is puzzling me. The unit sounds great on playback, but it has intermittent static on both channels during recording. Really sounds like a "dirty" connection somewhere. It seems to happen on all types of tapes as well, with or without Dolby engaged.

Possible causes:

I've had a similar problem with one of my BX150 - intermittent noise of low level, especially noticeable when recording silence.
I've replaced some caps in the recording signal path - no difference.
I've replaced the op-amp - no difference.
I've... done a lot of other things - no differencefeature).

After all, I replaced the relay that switches the head's signal cable between recording and playback path (there is a common omron replacement) - the noise has gone !
